The Next-Generation Sequencing is fundamentally different approach from the traditional Sanger chain-termination method. It involves massively parallel sequencing of millions of DNA fragments simultaneously that can produce a tremendous volume of sequencing data with lower costs in a short period of time. Illumina sequencing technology is one of the most commonly used NGS platforms. Illumina HiSeq platform which is based on sequencing by synthesis (SBS), is the most reliable and widely adopted in worldwide.
